Next Month Boundary Road Brewers will be playing host to Brian “Spike” Buckowski as he takes up the position of “the Resident”. The brewmaster, and co-founder of the award-winning Terrapin Beer Company based in the Deep South – in Athens, Georgia – is keen to travel down under and get stuck into the well developed craft beer scene in NZ.

“Craft beer is my passion, and I’m excited to bring some American flair to the kiwi brewing scene as well as experimenting with New Zealand hops,” he says. “I hear it’s a spectacular place, so as well as trying some of the craft beer available, I’m looking forward to travelling around to check out what New Zealand has to offer.”

Tasked with creating three bespoke brews for the good of the Kiwi craft beer nation, it was Spike’s wealth of craft beer experience and credentials that stood out from over 80 international beer enthusiasts who applied to take part in the month long sabbatical.

Ben Shaw, Boundary Road Brewery marketing manager, says Spike’s brewing genius ensures he’ll create an innovative range for kiwis to get stuck in to.

“Spike’s been tasked to provide New Zealanders with ‘The Resident’ range of brews to take the nation by storm,” he says. “We can’t wait to taste what he creates,”.

Spike arrives in New Zealand on May 8, 2012 and fans can keep track of what Spike is up to at www.facebook.com/brb.

The range of beers Spike creates during his stay in New Zealand during May will be called ‘The Resident’, and will be released for sale from July 2012. Visit www.boundaryroadbrewery.com for further information.
