Queenslanders have something to celebrate this week as news broke that their iconic XXXX Gold stole the crown of most popular beer from traditional favourite VB.
According to the latest Nielsen figures show that the mid strength beer came out on top of the market share – albeit by a slender margin of 0.1%. Nevertheless it spells the end of the Victorian brew’s two decades of dominance on the Australian market. And even more poetically, the news comes just two months after the prediction from Lion CEO Rob Murray that XXXX Gold would sit at number one within the year.
