Stomping Ground Brewing Co and Melbourne Cocoa have collaborated to create a Double Choc Double Milk Nitro Stout and chocolate bar in celebration of World Chocolate Day on July 7.
Stomping Ground’s co-founder Steve Jeffares said the Collingwood brewery had released chocolate beers before, but never quite as unique as this.
“When Melbourne Cocoa approached us with the idea of not only brewing a beer with their chocolate but also creating a limited edition chocolate bar inspired by our beer, and made with some of the ingredients, we thought it was a brilliantly fun way of celebrating World Chocolate Day,” Jeffares said.
Head brewer Ashur Hall said: “The idea behind the release was to double down on the milk chocolate character. We added 50kg of cocoa powder and 40kg of cocoa liquor from Melbourne Cocoa to the brew, so it’s very chocolatey. Lactose has made the beer sweet, fuller, and, along with carbonating the beer with nitro for our first time, deliciously creamy.”
The Double Choc Double Milk Nitro Stout cans (355ml, 6.3% ABV) and chocolate bar are available to purchase online. The first 100 customers will receive the chocolate bar complimentary with any four-pack purchased from Stomping Ground’s and Melbourne Cocoa’s online stores.
The cans are also available from July 6 at selected independent bottle shops throughout Melbourne and on tap at Stomping Ground Brewery & Beer Hall from July 7.
