5 Professional Brewers
The conference has five professional brewers speaking on the day including: Ian Morgan brewer at Holgate since 2008 – and keen hombrewer – will be talking all things hops, Ben Krause (Bridge Road) and Josh Uljans (Moon Dog) from Victoria, and local Queensland brewers Ian Watson (Fortitude Brewing) and Wade Curtis (4 Hearts).
4 Break-out Sessions
To mix it up and add some variety, the day will include a range of smaller sessions with topics covering Making Yeast Starters, Mashing for Whiskey, Sake Making and a special Spiegelau Glass Tasting. For the latter session, a select few (i.e. those who buy tickets early) will be trying a range of Spiegelau glasses to see whether they really do make a difference to how beer tastes – word on the street is that it is pretty amazing. Normally it would set punters back $55 but for QHBC attendees can attend the tasting and walk away with 4 Spiegelau Glasses, for just $45 (FYI the RRP on the glasses is more than that).
3 Beer Breaks
Rest assured that attendees will be appropriately hydrated at the event with beers scheduled for morning and afternoon tea as well as straight after the conference. Beers will be provided by a range of local and a few interstate breweries. And a few of the brewers will be on hand to chat about their beers. Additionally seven beers will be served at lunch for judging as part of the Club Wars Competition.
2 Expert Panel Sessions
Sometimes not all the questions can get answered during the sessions so there will be two sessions with all the expert brewers available to answer questions.
1 Hell of a Good Time
With 16 sessions of education, more than a bit of fun, and plenty of beer and food it is set to be another cracking conference in 2013.
0 Idea of the Topic of the After-dinner Speech
Ben and Kieran, the dynamic duo behind the Scratch Bar at Milton, haven’t given up the topic of their speech but the organisers assure us it will be an entertaining addition to the evening’s beer and food matching dinner.
