The 2015 Sydney Royal Beer & Cider Show dates have been announced. Entries open 10 June and run until 15 July, with judging held on 15 September.
Although the judging is closed to the public, beer enthusiasts are invited to attend the awards night on 18 September. They will be able to join the celebration as competition results are announced and taste the medal winning beers and ciders.
The Beer & Cider show will highlight Australian draught and bottled beers as well as ciders and perrys. The classes that will be judged include; Golden Lagers, Dark Lagers, Pale and Golden Ales, Amber and Dark Ales, Stouts and Porters, Wheat Beers, Strong Beers, Reduced Alcohol Beer, Cider, Perry and Speciality Beer.
“The judging panel are looking forward to tasting their way through the best beer and cider Australia’s brewers have to offer,” said chair of judges and head brewer at The Australian Brewery Neal Cameron.
This year’s show is expected to have some fierce competition when judging takes place at the Sydney Showground. Last year’s show received a record number of competition entries with the judges awarding seven Gold and 40 Silver medals.
“The highlight of last year’s competition was the superb quality of beers, particularly the three awarded a Championship, including Sydney brewer Redoak’s Château Sour, Mash Brewing’s Russell brew from Western Australia and the Squashed Apple Cider from The Barossa Valley Cider Company Pty Ltd,” said Cameron.
“Winning a Sydney Royal medal provides producers with an invaluable opportunity to brand their product with this distinction, allowing it to stand out from its competitors.”
