Stone & Wood have released an “easy drinking” version of their Green Coast Lager as the Northern Rivers brewery position its latest beer less against its craft counterparts but more to rival contemporary ones like Great Northern.
Unlike the original 4.7% ABV Green Coast’s brown bottle, the new 3.5% version comes in a clear one with Stone & Wood saying it’s a “contemporary lager” made with Australian malts and Saaz hops for a “super crisp finish (that’s) mild on the palate (and) has a subtle bitterness”.
With more Australians reaching for easy drinking beers, Stone & Wood said they wanted to ensure they had an option in the fridge for those seeking a quality, sessionable lager.
“The dominance of this beer style in the Australian market has given us the confidence to expand our range into an exciting space, and we’re eager to dip our toes into what is a new brewing style for us,” Stone & Wood’s general manager Nick Boots said.
“Australians are favouring such diverse flavour profiles, and with the addition of our 3.5% Green Coast Lager, we believe our portfolio covers all occasions.”
The 3.5% Green Coast Lager launches in QLD and NSW bottle shops this week and as the official beer of the Australian men’s rugby union team the Wallabies it arrives ahead of their Test match against the All Blacks on September 5.
