On Saturday 26 September, Port Macquarie will host its inaugural Beer and Cider Festival at Westport Park on the banks of the Hastings River. The festival will celebrate all things beer and cider, showcasing both local brews and others from around Australia.
With over fifty exhibitors from around the country, attendees will be spoilt for choice when it comes to beer and cider. Participating brewers include Stone & Wood, New England Brewing Co., MooreBeer and Six String Brewing Co.
The Port Macquarie Beer and Cider festival allows locals and out-of-towners to enjoy a day celebrating beer, cider and food, and engage with passionate brewers in the increasingly popular craft beer and cider market. A special bus timetable has also been implemented for the day so visitors do not have to drive to the event.
While beer and cider tasting will be the focus of the event, the main drawcard will be the first-ever Mid North Coast Beer Keg Toss. Inspired by the Highland Games, the competition will run all day, with various heats to determine the best male and female keg tossers at the show. There is $600 in cash and prizes to be won. Anyone wanting to participate should register online to secure their place in the competition.
The festival organisers have ensured that the event is family friendly, with a wide variety of gourmet food stalls, live music and a large games area. The latter will include various forms of entertainment such as a jumping castle, lawn bowls, a giant Jenga set and much more.
Tickets can be purchased online for $25 for adults, $10 for children and $60 for a family pass (two adults and two children). All online ticket purchases will also be charged a booking fee. Tickets can also be purchased on the day for $35.
