A new distribution company is set to shake up the boutique spirits market in Australia. Set up by Little Creatures founders (and board members) Howard Cearns, Nic Trimboli and David Martin, Hippocampus Memorable Drinks has signed a deal to distribute products from Sipsmith Independent Spirits. But the Hippocampus team isn’t going to stop there, with plans to expand their portfolio of craft products to include a whisky and possibly a tequila, as well as a small variety of wine.
Hippocampus will also be seeking to increase the distribution of Stormflower, their Margaret River-based wine label.
Sipsmith is an independent UK distillery that uses a handmade copper-pot still, named “Prudence” and the first in London for 189 years, to deliver their artisanal gin and vodka. They also have plans for a product to challenge to dominance of the iconic English tipple Pimms No. 1 Cup.
