After a 17 month build and DA process new Northern Rivers brewery Common People Brewing have finally opened their doors.
Located in Bangalow in northern NSW, the brewing company is owned and operated by locals Drew Tourle, Janelle Morse and Sophie and Jay Kempnich (pictured in that order above). Their production facility and tasting room are housed in a former warehouse building in the Bangalow industrial estate.
“It’s been a long but enjoyable slog and we cannot wait to welcome the local community and visitors to our tasting room,” Jay said who is also the brewing company’s general manager.
Brewed on a DME copper-clad brewhouse, Common People’s core range features the Protesters IPA, Back Beach White Ale and Villager’s Pale Ale while their current tap list of rotating seasonal releases include a Steam Ale and a Berliner-Weisse-style sour.
Their current head brewer is Drew’s brother and former Malt Shovel brewer Sam who is on a six month sabbatical from his current brewing role at Stone & Wood to get Jay and Drew up to speed using the brewkit.
Open Thursday through to Sunday from 12pm to 9pm, Common People will initially host local food trucks before they start offering up their own pizzas via an authentic Italian woodfired oven alongside the likes of charcuterie boards.
The brewery will also offer a courtesy bus, servicing the Bangalow and Byron areas.
Common People Brewing are located at 9 Dudgeons Lane in Bangalow.
