Inside Blackrock Brasserie
Blackrock Brasserieis Sutherland Shire’s first restaurant and microbrewery, with the brewery set amongst the restaurant so diners get to see and experience the brewing process first hand.
General manager Lance Cochrane said diners get the a whole new level to the concept of food and beer pairing.
“We provide beer pairings throughout our food menu, we also have a dedicated light options lunch menu, which features our beer in the dish itself – including Aussie Ale beef pie and mash, Stout braised veal with pappardelle pasta and a wagyu minute steak sandwich with Irish Red Ale and chilli jam,” said Cochrane.
“Our signature menu item is our Beergustation, which is a tasting paddle of our core range of beers served with bit sized food pairings.”
The microbrewery has four serving tanks, which sit above the bar hooked up directly to the taps.
“We have 10 taps full of craft beer, including our four core range of beers plus two seasonals. Our second seasonal, our take on a Bock, is due to be released on 6 September just in time for Father’s Day,” said Cochrane.
“Our other taps are dedicated to local craft breweries and have so far seen the likes of Illawarra Brewery, HopDog Beerworks, St Peters Brewery, Dennis Brewing Co and Batlow Cider. This is supported with a growing list of bottled craft beer and an extensive boutique wine list.”
The current beer line up in the brewhouse comprises Kolsch, Aussie Ale, Irish Red, Stout andthe two seasonals a Black Kolsch and Bock.
“It’s exciting for us at the moment as we are establishing a craft beer venue and building up a brewery business at the same time,” said Cochrane.
“We are starting growlers sales out of our cellar door on the 4 September and just starting to push out kegs sales. We are also about two months away from selling bottles.”
