According to medical entomologist and mosquito expert
Dr Cameron Webb drinking beer makes you even more attractive to mosquitoes.
Dr Webb has been interviewed on several Sydney-based radio stations warning beer drinkers to slather on the repellent as bug numbers are on the rise due to favourable weather conditions.
According to recent research, drinking beer – especially outdoors in the heat – creates a confluence of factors – higher body temperature, lower sensitivity to touch, and skin chemicals from beer consumption – that can make you irresistible to the airborne blood suckers.
However, having hairy extremities is definitely in the favour of beer drinkers, giving mozzies a more difficult surface to land on, and often causing them to seek a meal elsewhere.
