Leanne White

As the Independent Brewers Association (IBA) navigates a significant period of change for the beer industry, Leanne White has been appointed Board Director to help lead the organisation into its next era.

As the founder and owner of Insightfully, an issues and opinion research agency with a focus on behavioural change campaigns, White is experienced in providing data, insights and strategic consulting for a variety of sectors.

As a shareholder of Madocke Beer Brewing Company, she is also passionate about the success of Australia’s independent brewing industry.

In her expression of interest, she stated: “Beer is deeply rooted in Australian culture; it’s part of our national identity. Craft beer brings out the best of what it is to be Australian: working hard to realise a dream and using individual creativity to provide products and places that bring people together.

“There’s no doubt that the industry is experiencing a period of change. Independent craft breweries operate at the nexus of three of the most challenging sectors in Australia at present: manufacturing, alcohol and hospitality.

“To push through these challenges and grow, craft brewing needs a strong and supportive community underpinned by a peak body that continues to champion the industry and kick goals for its members. My personal expertise in board governance, small business management, research/insights, campaigns and advocacy will be of value to the IBA board.”

The appointment follows an expression of interest process held earlier this year as the IBA adjusts its strategy, structure and operations to ensure a sustainable future for the organisation and its members.

A statement issued by the IBA says: “We are thrilled that Leanne will be volunteering her time and offering her skills and expertise as a Board Director and we sincerely thank everyone that expressed their interest in working with us to guide the organisation in to a sustainable future.”

White fills one of two vacant Board Director positions as Glen Brasington of Hawkes Brewery and Callum Reeves of Kaiju Beer depart the board.

The role of IBA’s Board of Directors is to set strategy and oversee the team, with elected directors each bringing their unique experience and perspectives for the best interest of the IBA.
