Long Point Brewing Co, a joint venture between Shane Wormall of Wormall Group, and West Australian Beach & Golf Resort (WABGR), has received development approval for its microbrewery as part of Place Development Australia’s fast-growing Kennedy Bay development in south-west WA.

The development will feature a two-storey brewpub, a restaurant, function space, and short-stay accommodation, with a total venue capacity of up to 500 guests. The north-facing location will offer frontage onto a foreshore park and boat access via the jetty, which will be constructed later in the Kennedy Bay development.

A resident of nearby Port Kennedy, Wormall has wanted to start a microbrewery close to home for a long time. His vision for Long Point Brewing Co is a casual, approachable venue that caters to the local community.

“As one of the last north-facing coastal opportunities in Western Australia, Kennedy Bay is of world-class nature and should be celebrated as such. Long Point Brewing Co will be a casual, family-friendly venue that welcomes you with thongs and sandy feet. Our mission is to provide an incredible guest experience, plenty of locally crafted quality beers, and a flame-grilled inspired menu,” he said.

Lou D’Alessandro, WABGR Director, said that the microbrewery will be an important asset both to the Kennedy Bay development and the broader Kennedy Bay community.

“This development reiterates our dedication to establishing valued amenities that elevate the Kennedy Bay region. The brewery will not only provide a boost to the local economy, but it will also serve as a cultural hub and destination driver, attracting tourists and providing a unique space for community gatherings,” he said.

Place Development Australia’s $13 million development will be located in the centre of Kennedy Bay, and is expected to support 100 jobs during construction and provide 35 full-time opportunities upon completion. In addition, it is expected to make a significant contribution to the region’s hospitality and tourism industries, estimated to attracted 180,000 guests per year.

Construction of the Long Point Brewing Co venue is expected to commence later this year, with completion expected in early 2026.
