The folks at Birra Italiana have all heart, making a plaintive call on behalf of Santa: no commercial beer this Christmas!
How about a nice Italian craft brew and some homemade cookies to take the edge off after the kids have gone to bed?
Well, they can’t do much about the cookies but they can help you out with some intriguing new releases from the darlings of the craft beer world.
With pre-orders filling out fast for December fans can look forward to a pre-Christmas drop of Croce Di Malto, Extraomnes and Scarampola, along with some sure-to-be popular collaborations between the US-based Stillwater and Italian Extraomnes, and a massive collaboration between the madmen of Scottish brewers BrewDog and Italian brewers Birra Del Borgo.
With Italian beers taking Australia by storm this just may be the perfect gift to yourself… we mean Santa.
The new releases include:
Brewdog & Birra Del Borgo: Reale “In Kilt” – a reinterpretation of Birra Del Borgo’s ReAle that is brewed with peat smoked malts and Scottish yeast then wood aged – two shipments have arrived but stock is limited.
Brewfist: 2LATE Double IPA – with a 90IBU and a smashing 9.5% ABV it’s one for massive hop heads.
Extraomnes & Stillwater: Migdal Bavel ‘Tower of Babel’ – a unique Saison experience with added pepper and an ABV of 6.66%. Very limited, these are the final cases.
Extraomnes: Kerst Belgium Strong Ale – this is brewed once a year with a standard version, plus a version aged for nine months in old Barbera Wine barrels.
Croce Di Malto: Triple XXX (tripel) and Magnus Belgium Strong Ale – now available in 330mL bottles in cases of 12.
Scarampola: No.8 – a beer for BBQs and the (hopefully) hot Aussie summer. Now in 330mL 12-packs.
Toccalmatto: Zona Cesarini Pacific IPA and B-Space – both favourites of the importers.
For trade buyers, kegs are now on pre-order for the new year at the Birra Italianasite.
For beer fans – get on to your local so you can enjoy these brews as the silly season kicks off in December.
