In celebration of Victoria’s high country brewers and the 2017 hop harvest, craft beer lovers are invited to head for the hills for the third annual High Country Hops festival, to be held at Bridge Road Brewers in Beechworth Victoria on March 25.
The existing four brewers of the High Country Brewery trail (Bridge Road Brewers, Black Dog, Blizzard and Bright Breweries) will be joined by three new additions: Rutherglen, Social Bandit from Mansfield and Blizzard Brewery from Dinner Plain.
These high country brewers all share strong links both with each other and with local hop growers, adding to the community spirit of the event.
“[It’s] a great day out for the high country breweries involved and punters alike,” says James Booth of Black Dog Brewery in Taminick.
“The fantastic atmosphere and good vibes celebrate our high country brewery trail and the awesome hops that are grown in our neck of the woods.”
While the festival brings together like-minded craft brewers and local growers of that all-important brewing ingredient, hops, it also promises to be a family-friendly day out, featuring local food producers, live music, and entertainment for the kids.
And if you get there early, you’ll even be able to channel your inner Robin Hood and try your hand at some archery.
Milawa Cheese and Gundowring Ice Cream will again provide great local products to complement the beer and festivities; also joining the festival in 2017 are the Burgess Family Butchers, who will bring prime local cuts and their smoker up the hill from Rutherglen to really get those meaty juices flowing.
The High Country Hops Festival is on from 11am-5pm on March 25. For more information, visit: bridgeroadbrewers.com.au/events
