Sydney-based Freshwater Brewing Co. is holding a four-day music and creative arts festival, Freshie Palooza, from Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 July.
Freshie Palooza is part of the Northern Beaches Council’s Creative Open, an initiative that seeks to revitalise the area’s nightlife after the effects of Covid lockdowns. One of Brookvale’s newest breweries, Freshwater Brewing is the Creative Open’s official hub for this year, priding itself on its crisp lagers, stylish venue, and energetic gigs.
Jonny Bucknall, Founder of Freshwater Brewing Co., said that Freshie Palooza reflects the growing artistic culture of the Northern Beaches.
“Brookvale has completely evolved over the past 10 years from an industrial estate to a bustling social precinct. With Freshie Palooza, we’re excited to introduce music lovers from all over Sydney to our creative and vibrant neighbourhood, and hope that they enjoy supporting and discovering our talented local musicians, artisans and producers,” he said.
There will be a number of free gigs throughout the festival, including shows from rapper Gold Fang, neo-RnB singer Ruby Jackson, indie trio Loretta, and The Strides.
Attendees will be able to learn a new skill at one of the workshops, with tote-bag printing on Saturday and woodworking on Sunday. On Friday, local artisans such as PLOW Surf Co, Atypical Aromas, BohoBabe, and The Sunshine Collective will be selling their products at the Winter Night Market.
Freshie Palooza is an all-ages event, and families can enjoy the roving circus and kids eat free deal, both on Sunday.
Of course, beer will also feature at the festival, with a limited-edition Palooza Pilsner and Palooza Paloma on the menu, and other collaborations will be announced in coming weeks. Freshwater Brewing’s beers will also be available, along with natural wines, non-alcoholic options, and a hearty winter menu from Freshwater Brewing’s kitchen.
