It was a big Winter at Holgate Brewhouse, with four popular beers being released (Campfire Red IPA, Double Stout, and two Barrel-Aged Sours; Wild Red and Sour Brett), and their Explore Beer campaign running on digital, social, TV and in cinemas in Victoria, NSW and Queensland. The team have also been super busy preparing for two big September releases.
The biggest is their new Explorer – Crisp, Refreshing Beer, which they describe as “the perfect beer for every adventure”. Designed to appeal to mainstream beer drinkers, it’s made in the lager tradition, taking the best bits from their most popular easy-drinking brews. And with over 20 years of brewing, that’s a lot of recipes to choose from! Pale straw in colour, the 4.0% Explorer is crisp, mildly zesty and herbaceous, with delicate citrus and an elegant balance of malt and hops. It drinks like a Premium European or Japanese Lager.
Their other Spring release is Big Pash Passionfruit Sour. Released in limited 375mL cans and soured naturally with lactobacillus, Big Pash is the perfect fresh and fruity brew to kick off Spring 2021. At 7.0% ABV, the sweet and tangy hit of passionfruit is smoothed out by the lactose, making it a big yet deliciously drinkable kettle sour. It’ll hit you right in the kisser!
Holgate is also in the process of phasing in new standardised core range cans for their American IPA (formerly Road Trip), Session Pale, Australian XPA (formerly Alpha Crucis), and Wild Berry Sour (formerly Blush) to make their core look like a family and be easily spotted in the bottleshop.
So, there’s lots to enjoy from Holgate this Spring. And keep an eye out for the return of Twin Suns XPA in time for the festive season too!
