Willie Smith’s Huon Valley Mid-Winter Festival

HUON VALLEY MID-WINTER FESTIVAL RETURNS JULY 16 – 17

The seventh annual Huon Valley Mid-Winter Festival is returning on July 16 & 17 at the Willie Smith’s Apple Shed. Due to COVID 19 restrictions the festival will be smaller than normal – with a 600 person capacity on both days. To fairly accommodate all those that wish to attend Willie Smith’s are running a ticket ballot via this LINK. You will have until 9am on May 31 to sign up. Successful balloters will be notified on Tuesday 1 June and given the opportunity to purchase a maximum of four tickets for either July 16 or 17 (not both). You can enter both ballots to increase your chances of success but will only be able to attend one night if you are successful.
After moving to an online festival last year due to the pandemic, attendees in 2021 can look forward to all the old festival favourites returning, including Nayri Niara’s welcome to country and culminating in the traditional burning of the festival effigy “Big Willie”. Meanwhile, fire pits will light up the nighttime, a storyteller’s stage will be nestled in the Apple shed and roving performers will entertain until the festival’s core event, the Wassail, gives attendees a chance to sing their hearts out to the apple trees in the hope of bringing on a bumper crop for the next harvest.
