Depot Brewery has officially opened in Artarmon in Sydney’s north, with six 3000-litre fermenters that will be serving up house-brewed lager, IPA and limited-editions brews.
In addition customers can look forward to a bistro-style menu served up by Chef Will Baldwin who has worked for over 15 years in venues across Sydney and London, including the award-winning Bopp & Tone.
The venue will also offer wines, plus cocktails that will feature house-distilled gin and vodka that guests can enjoy while watching sporting events on the large-screen TVs, or watching their kids entertain themselves in the playground.
Depot Brewery is the big brother to sister venue Buckle Cafe & Distillery, which is conveniently located next door. The team said that where Buckle provides customers with a more traditional cafe-style experience – featuring expansive drink and food menus designed to take patrons from day to night – Depot Brewery is its more casual counterpart.
Depot Bar Manager, Campbell Starrett said: “When first conceptualising Buckle and Depot, we knew we wanted two venues that could offer customers something completely different and yet complementary.
“Where Buckle is inspired by classic Aussie cafe culture, Depot leans more into Aussie pub culture. We’ve furnished the space with a mix of bar and dining tables to cater for customers who want to have a quick drink with mates and those who want to settle in for a longer catch-up.”
Award-winning brewers Ady Fitter and Ian Roxburgh are applying their expertise to the beer tap menu, which will feature a range of beers including a mid-strength “Ultra Crisp” lager, a fruity “Pacific Pale” Ale, a strong-but-balanced “IPA”, plus another nine taps all on rotation.
The Depot Brewery name is an ode to the heritage local council depot next door to the building in Artarmon. Cradle Design was tasked with giving the space new life while staying true to its heritage, mixing a luxe bar set-up with industrial design features such as exposed brick and open rafters.
The brewery and bar are located at 1 Frederick St, Artarmon and will be open from 12pm to 10pm Monday to Thursday, from 12pm to 11pm on Friday and Saturday and then from 12pm to 9pm on Sundays. The kitchen will be open from 12pm to 8.30pm every day.
