Construction is now underway on the $13m Long Point Brewing Co. development, bringing an independent craft brewery, two-storey brewpub, restaurant and function space to Kennedy Bay’s waterfront.
Just an hour’s drive south of Perth, the brewery is being constructed on a prominent beachfront site with picturesque views and direct foreshore access. The brewpub is expected to open in 2026, featuring a wide selection of locally crafted West Australian beers.
Shane Wormall, Long Point Brewing Co. Co-founder, stated: “Having grown up in the area I wanted to make sure the brewery feels like it belongs here.
“Before it evolved into Kennedy Bay, the area was known as Long Point and we are proud to pay homage to that history in a contemporary venue. We’ve all put a lot of thought into how this development will fit into the natural landscape while respecting the area’s history.
“For boating enthusiasts, the location offers a world-class bay with protection from the sea breeze, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed visit. Small boat owners will be able to moor up overnight and enjoy everything Kennedy Bay has to offer, especially as a family-friendly destination.
“Long Point will also showcase local produce in its restaurant and craft its own range of beers, contributing to WA’s thriving brewing industry,” he continued.
Hoskins Contracting and award-winning MJA Studio have been contracted to design and build the brewery, drawing on nautical themes and taking inspiration from the mid-century architecture of adjacent coastal town Rockingham.
Once constructed the brewery will hold capacity for 500 patrons, supporting 100 jobs during construction and projected to attract 180,000 visitors annually.
To celebrate construction officially commencing, a groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Wormall; Paul Papalia, Member for Secret Harbour; City of Rockingham Mayor Deb Hamlin and other key stakeholders.

Papalia highlighted how the brewery could boost the region’s economy, while adding significant value to the local community.
“The addition of a high-quality brewery in Kennedy Bay will not only create more jobs for locals and attract more tourism to the area, but importantly will mean locals can enjoy a world-class hospitality experience right next to our stunning, north-facing coastline,” he said.
Hamblin also welcomed the project.
“Long Point Brewing Co. will be a fantastic addition to the city, providing a vibrant space for residents and visitors to enjoy. This development will strengthen our region’s appeal and is an excellent addition to our collection of hospitality venues,” she explained.
