Colonial Brewing Co have continued their connection with the sporting world – this time signing on as the official beer and cider partner of the National Basketball League’s reigning champions Melbourne United for the next two seasons.

The deal comes after Colonial lost out to Carlton & United Breweries earlier this year as AFL side Essendon’s official sponsor, a position they had held since 2017, and follows August’s signing on as the official beer partner of Cricket Victoria, the Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars for the next three years.

Colonial beers and ciders will now be available at Melbourne United home games at John Cain Arena for the next two seasons for Melbourne United Elevate Members and fans.

Managing director Lawrence Dowd said: “We’re excited to partner with Melbourne United due to the shared vision and beliefs of Colonial Brewing Co. and the club, specifically in terms of commitment to Australian sport and how we can use the power of our organisations to create a positive difference in our local communities.

“As a wholly independent Australian owned business, sport has always been a fundamental part of the Colonial Brewing Co. identity. We’re excited to partner with Melbourne United who are the forefront of basketball in Australia and creating positive difference in communities through sport.

“Being a Port Melbourne business with a strong connection to our local community, the opportunity to
partner with Melbourne United was a no brainer and we look forward to welcoming all Melbourne United
fans and members to our Port Melbourne Brewery this season and beyond.”

Melbourne United CEO Nick Truelson said: “The Colonial Brewing Company is a fantastic Australian brand
that thrives on both innovation and an uncomplicated philosophy that puts their customer and wider community first.

“Their values align really nicely with our own, here at Melbourne United, and we are really excited to have
the Colonial Brewing Company join our family of partners.”

Melbourne United’s first home game at John Cain Arena is on December 12 against cross-town rivals South East Melbourne Phoenix.
