Burleigh Brewing’s latest addition Twisted Palm tropical pale ale is a laid back, easy-drinking pale ale with hop-driven tropical characters of orange, mango and papaya. And now with a Gold Medal to boot!
Burleigh Brewing have added another medal to their ever-growing collection, this time a gold medal for their newest brew Burleigh Brewing Twisted Palm.
The gold medal was awarded at the most recent World Beer Championship tastings, held in Chicago in November. Awarded 91 points, with a rating of “Exceptional”, Twisted Palm has certainly done the Burleigh Brewing family proud.
Here is a snippet of what the judges had to say; “Flavors of tangerine and grapefruit … with a supple, bright, effervescent, dryish light-to-medium body and an effortless, touch of dried orange and mango finish. A very tasty fruity session ale.”

Ask Burleigh Brewing’s Brewmaster (& CEO Peta’s husband!) Brennan Fielding where the idea for Twisted Palm came from and he will tell you it came from wanting to bottle a day on the beach at Burleigh Heads and that’s exactly what he did, “We love everything there is to love about Burleigh Heads and joked about being able to bottle it for people to take home, so we thought, why not – and that’s where Twisted Palm came from.”
“This is a really easy to drink beer that fits well with the Queensland lifestyle. While flavourful and aromatic, it’s a relaxed and uncomplicated beer that is perfect for sharing with mates at the beach or at a summer barbie. One of the things I love about the Pandanus is that it is totally unique, it is neither a palm nor a pine! Burleigh Heads has that same sense of uniqueness. That inspired me to create something special, this beer is simply…Burleigh in a bottle” says Fielding.
