Brick Lane Brewing Co has been appointed as the exclusive beer supplier for the Night Market at Queen Victoria Market.
The brewery (slated to open in Dandenong later this year) was co-founded by Paul Bowker, along with footy legends Eddie McGuire, Mick Molloy and Billy Slater, as well as chef Shane Delia and Jon Seltin, one of Australia’s most respected brewers. They will all be on hand pulling pints throughout the market season.
However, Brick Lane will also be offering local craft brewers the opportunity to showcase their own brews at the market. The brewery’s concept includes creating separate bar zones and fun ways to help people experience a variety of craft brews. As well as hosting guest brewers, Brick Lane Brewing’s own beers will showcase seasonal and one-off varieties alongside its core range.
“We created this business to support a community of craft brewers building a real and sustainable presence in Melbourne,” comments Paul Bowker, managing director at Brick Lane Brewing Co. “We’re opening up our new brewery in Dandenong to other craft brewers and we thought it was a great idea to showcase to the public the innovation in brewing and the diversity of beers by opening up the Queen Victoria Market opportunity with them too.”
“The Queen Victoria Market is a Melbourne institution that, quite, rightly, the community feels a huge amount of ownership over,” adds Stan Liacos, Queen Victoria Market’s CEO. “Brick Lane Brewing Co. presented us with a concept that was completely aligned with our ethos of supporting relatively small and independent Melbourne-based businesses. We love the idea that they are a Melbourne-bred brewery and are also willing to share their space with other craft brewers for the benefit of the whole community.”
The Night Market takes place each Wednesday during the Winter and Summer Night Market seasons. It runs every Wednesday from 6 June to 29 August from 5pm to 10pm. For more information visit www.thenightmarket.com.au.
