The Brewers Guild of New Zealand has announced the inaugural Beer Writer of the Year award. The aim is to recognise outstanding contribution in the media by any individual over one calendar year. These contributions can be anything ranging from one outstanding contribution to a collection of contributions that together demonstrate an outstanding annual portfolio.
All material must have been made publicly available from May 1st to April 30th over the year preceding the award. All forms are included, be it print, television, film, social media or other media outlets.
The only specification is that the writing must focus on beer, brewing or a closely related and relevant industry subject. There is no caveat that articles necessarily show the brewing industry in a positive light but contributions should be informative, educational and/or entertaining
Applicants are asked to submit articles or portfolios to be judged before the closing date of 31 July. Submission must include copies or links to articles as appropriate, a list of the articles that are to be considered for judging and a brief cover letter explaining why the applicant merits the award of Brewers Guild of New Zealand Beer Writer of the Year.
The award will be presented at the annual Sutton Group Brewers’ Guild of New Zealand Awards, to be held in Wellington Thursday 16 August.
Applications should be made to: Beer Writer of the Year Award Application, The Brewers Guild of New Zealand and emailed to media@brewersguild.org.nz or posted to PO Box 37281, Christchurch.
