BentSpoke Brewing Co has announced that Singapore Airlines flights from Sydney and Melbourne will soon be carrying their Barley Griffin Pale Ale in Business and First Class.
As of 1 October, passengers will be able to enjoy craft beer on all Singapore Airlines flights in and out of Australia. Bentspoke’s Barley Griffin will be on board Sydney and Melbourne flights.
“It’s a huge honour for us to be chosen from all the great breweries in South-Eastern Australia,” said BentSpoke co-owner and head brewer Richard Watkins.
“We’re really looking forward to international visitors having our beer as their first taste of Australia.
“Barley Griffin won a gold medal at the 2017 International Brewing Awards so it’s great that one of the best beers in the world will be representing our country.”
Independent brews have long been missing from the airways, but Singapore Airlines is forging ahead by providing an independent craft option on their flights.
Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President, Mr Tan Tiow Kor, said the introduction of craft beer onboard reinforced Singapore Airlines commitment to supporting local Australian producers and businesses as well as Singapore Airlines focus on delivering a premium food and beverage offering.
“Since we began operating to Australia 50 years ago we have consistently looked to source local Australian produce when we have had the opportunity,” Mr Tan said.
“Partnering with a third Australian craft brewery reinforces this commitment and highlights our strong focus on providing our customers with a selection of premium food and beverage options onboard our flights.”
