Last month, Western Australia-based brewery Beerfarm announced its expansion onto the NSW Central Coast with works commencing on a new brewery and taphouse in Glenworth Valley.

Hot off the announcement, Beerfarm Director Ian Atkins told Beer & Brewer the interstate development is about more than expanding the brewery’s footprint on the eastern seaboard, it is the first major step in a national growth strategy.

“We’re pretty clear and focused on growing the business to being one of Australia’s largest independent craft beer brewers, and our Glenworth Valley expansion is a clear stake in the ground for achieving these ambitions.

“The site was chosen given its proximity to some key hubs including the Central Coast, Newcastle and Sydney. And with the site expected to add 30 per cent to our national production volume, it means we will have the ability to supply more product to both independent and national liquor outlets.

“As part of our national and international growth strategy, we are forming plans to expand into Queensland, Victoria, and South Australia. Our goal is to establish Beerfarm as a household name, synonymous with quality brews and unique experiences, and we look forward to bringing our passion for beer and community to more regions, building connections, and sharing good times with more Australians,” he explained.

Set to be completed in two phases, with the brewery expected to be operational early 2025 and the hospitality element of the development slated for mid-2026, the new development will draw on the design and hospitality that make the Margaret River venue a unique experience.

“This new site is not only about our dedication to growth, but also about staying true to our roots and we will look to replicate what we’ve done at Metricup, where we combine hospitality, entertainment, and a commitment to local collaboration to create a community hub,” Atkins stated.

Throughout development, Beerfarm will work closely with local suppliers, and once complete, the new site is expected to employ between 40 and 50 people.

“Beerfarm remains committed to building accessible venues for both locals and visitors. The project’s design, construction, and operations will create opportunities for local suppliers and workers, fostering collaboration and economic growth.”

“We look forward to becoming a part of this wonderful community and sharing our passion for great beer and good times with everyone here,” Atkins continued.
