In 2010, Burleigh Brewing the Black Giraffe. A shy beast, it was soon extinct, however a new batch has been made and will soon be released into the wild to take its chances against the local beer hunters.
A collaboration withZarraffas Coffee, the coffee in the 2012 release is 100 per cent ethically sourced from Guatemala. Reportedly giving this year’s Black Coffee Lager a more intense, rich mocha flavour.
After watching the 2010 batch fly off the shelves, Brewmaster Brennan Fielding was excited to get the 2012 brew in the tanks. “Black Giraffe is unique in the specialty ‘coffee beer’ category for a number of reasons,” he says. “The beer itself is a Black Lager rather than an Ale and we have a unique and considered approach to selecting the coffee for the beer, including the specs to which it is roasted and ground, and the way it’s added to the brew.”
And seeing the original brew scored 94/100 and bagged the Gold Medal at the 2010 World Beer Championships, punters will be champing at the bit to get their hands on the new evolution.
In honour of the occasion Burleigh Brewing has put together an extra special Black Friday Black Giraffe promotion… On Friday 13 July at 13:00 hours (that’s 1pm for the non-military personnel) the first 20 people through the Brewhouse Bar doors will be able to buy a special Black Friday Black Giraffe carton.
