The eighth annual Beer Necessities Survey for NZ is in and the verdict is better than ever.
Conducted for the Capital Times newspaper, the head judge, Kieran Haslett-Moore, has been quoted in the online version extolling the virtues of the newest crop of Kiwi brews. And he is right to be excited with 24 beers out of 93 making it into the ‘very good’ category – up from 20 last year and 12 the year before that.
The top six include:
a New Zealand Pilsner from Croucher, wheat beers Moa
Blanc Evolution and 8 Wired Haywired, a smoked beer from Stoke, Tuatara’ Aotearoa Pale Ale, and Moa’s Imperial Stout (which took out this year’s champion
beer title).
