The Bellarine-based Flying Brick Cider Co, is set to bash its way across the country as part of the 23rd annual Variety Bash.
Rather than getting their biff on though, the team will be driving a themed car raising money for Variety, a charity that supports children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.
With a team of four – David ‘Flyde’ Sharpe, Peter ‘Tarna’ Sharp, Jock ‘Travers’ Whiting and John ‘Action’ Fenton – Flying Brick Cider Co will be travelling in an original 1979 Holden Commodore VB, SLE model, dubbed the ‘Flying Brick’.
According to Sharpe the crew are looking forward to the event.
“The ‘bash’ combines adventure, spending time with old friends – we all grew up in Branxholme, near Hamilton – and raising money for a great cause,” he says. “I’m really looking forward to it – there’s bound to be some funny stories that come from it as well, we are a pretty motley crew.’
The 2013 Variety Bash departs from Echuca, Victoria on Tuesday August 20, and participants travel for 12 days across the Australian outback, finishing in Broome on Saturday August 31.
