More than 8000 revellers are expected to descend on Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour next weekend as BeerFest Australia makes its way to Sydney.

Following two successful events in Fremantle and Launceston, BeerFest Sydney will showcase craft beers, wine, cider, RTDs and spirits from more than 50 local producers.

While beer is the focus of the festival, BeerFest Australia also promotes the struggling music and events industry. Sneaky Sound System and the Daft Punk Discovery Tribute Show will headline the Sydney festival along with appearances from popular DJs and comedians such as Mitch Garling, Chris Ryan, John Course and Luke Heggie.

James Harding, BeerFest Australia Co-director, says the festival is about more than just great drinks.

“It’s a celebration of Australia’s creativity and community. We love to push boundaries and create lifelong memories through unique and engaging experiences, offering a perfect combination of education and fun, allowing festivalgoers to get up close and personal with the innovators behind their favourite bevvies, and have fun in the process,” he explains.

“Our program celebrates creativity, diversity, and all things that make our industry one of the greatest in the world. Sydney BeerFest at Tumbalong Park is the ultimate blend of party vibes and brew education. It’s a place where good times and great flavours collide.”

In addition to live music and comedy shows, BeerFest Sydney promises hand-on masterclasses, interactive games and exclusive one-off brews at the CBD harbourside precinct.

Beer industry icon Lindsy Greig will host the Beer Olympics, with festivalgoers also invited to test their palate at pairing masterclasses or uncover their brew soulmate at Sip & Swipe.

The event is expected to provide the city’s economy with a $2m boost, adding to the $30m it drives across the country throughout the tour and providing crucial support for Australia’s craft beverage industry after what has been a challenging year.

BeerFest Sydney will take place on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 December, with the BeerFest Australia franchise set to visit Canberra and Melbourne in February for the last leg of the tour.
