Winners of Best Brewery at the Royal Queensland Beer Awards, Slipstream Brewing has welcomed the official opening of Social House, its new Sunshine Coast venue at Stockland Shopping Centre in Birtinya.
Opening on 16 October, the 300-pax space features 40 taps pouring Slipstream’s signature beers and limited releases, alongside a new beer exclusive to Social House, a hoppy North Coast Pilsner inspired by the Sunshine Coast.
Slipstream was founded by husband-and-wife duo Deale and Elisa Stanley-Hunt, and opened its first brewery in Yeerongpilly on Brisbane’s southside in 2017. The new venue represents an opportunity for the brewery to share its beers and ethos with a wider audience.
“Our vision for Social House is to create a space that embodies the spirit of the Sunshine Coast community, where locals can come together and enjoy quality beers in a welcoming atmosphere, just like we have done with our Brisbane venue,” said Deale Stanley-Hunt.
Though the brewery had been looking for a Sunshine Coast location for some time, co-owner Elisa Stanley-Hunt said that as soon as the Birtinya opportunity became available, the Slipstream team knew it was the right decision.
“Birtinya is a fast-growing area, and our venue will fill a gap in the market for a sizeable, authentic and exciting hospitality offering,” she said.
Social House features both indoor and outdoor spaces to suit a variety of occasions, from alfresco lounges and booths to a dedicated function space.
The menu at Social House is designed to be paired with beer, and includes a selection of grilled steaks, including a 450g pork Tomahawk, and fresh seafood. Popular items from the Yeerongpilly venue are also available, which, like Slipstream’s beers, are inspired by the West Coast USA.
Social House will also offer entertainment options including live music sessions, weekly trivia nights, and pinball competitions. Additionally, it is located near live music venue The Station and will draw in the pre-gig crowd.
The opening will be celebrated at an opening party on 19 October with live music from 4pm to 7pm, a pop-up oyster bar from 3.30pm to 6.30pm, and lucky door prizes all day.
