Beer review website, RateBeer, has tallied nearly one million reviews from 2015 to form its RateBeer Best Awards, with three Australian brewers coming up trumps.
Australia’s Top Beer for 2015 was Boatrocker Ramjet Whisky Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, Top Brewer went to Bridge Road Brewers and Top New Brewer was Modus Operandi Brewing Company.
“It was very nice to wake-up to!” Modus’ Jaz Wearin told Beer & Brewer of the award.
“2015 was our first complete year as a brewery and I have to say it was a pretty amazing year! We were lucky enough to pick up Gold for our Former Tenant and Silent Knight at the Sydney Royal, followed by Champion IPA, Champion Pale Ale and Champion Medium Brewery at the Craft Beer Awards, then Former Tenant in the top 10 of the GABS Hottest 100, finishing it off with this accolade – it’s all very humbling.
“We very much work with our heads down and bums up to try and get some great beer happening, so to receive a few awards here and there is very nice recognition for a great team effort.”
The top beers, brewers and new brewers listed by country were formulated according to reviews taken last year and weighted by performance within and outside of style, balanced by indicators of depth.
The RateBeer Best Awards recognise a number of different areas including; Top New Brewers, Top Retailers, Best Beers by Style Category, Top New Releases and Best Beers in the World, to name a few.
